R2-D2 was one of the most adventurous and upbeat droids in all of the galaxy. Time and time again, this small droid has saved the day. Standing less than 1 meter tall, he is equipped with all kinds of tools that help him with starship mechanics and he also makes a great computer interface specialist. However, tools are not what makes this droid stand apart from the crowd. R2-D2's bravery is second to none when the pressure is on.
R2-D2 is originally from the quiet and peaceful world of Naboo. While he and a team of astromechs worked upon the Royal Starship for Queen Amidala, they ran into trouble with the Trade Federation. While in battle, the Royal Starship was damaged and lost control of its shields and it was R2-D2 that fixed the ship so that it was able to escape into hyperspace. For this single act of bravery, Queen Amidala herself personally thanked and recognized R2-D2 for his actions.
R2-D2 later returned to Naboo with Queen Amidala. Upon returning, he served as an onboard astromech with Anakin Skywalker, a young pilot who flew an N-1 starfighter into the Battle of Naboo.
