Qui-Gon Jinn was a Jedi Master and student of the living Force. Jinn was very different from other Jedi Masters in the fact that he lived for the moment while others were often lost in meditation. Because of this trait, Qui-Gon was never allowed on the Jedi Council.
Given the order to go to Naboo to help settle the trade dispute, Qui-Gon and his Padawan apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi left in search of peace for that region. While on a Trade Federation battleship, the two were taken by surprise and narrowly escaped to the surface of Naboo.
While on Naboo, Qui-Gon Jinn helped to rescue a Gungan named Jar Jar Binks who eventually swore his life to the Jedi. With the help of Jar Jar Binks, the three of them traveled to the city of Theed. While there, they were able to free Queen Amidala from the Trade Federation and eventually went off to deliver her safely to Coruscant.
