Jedi Knight
A group of protectors joined in their belief in the Force, the Jedi represented a civilized time in galactic history. Their history can be traced back through time over a thousand generations. As the Galactic Republic grew over the centuries, the Jedi became known as the enforcers of peace and justice.
With their headquarters on Coruscant, the Jedi studied and trained within the Jedi Temple which was a tall building that rose above all else on the planet. Leading them was a High Council of 12 Jedi who consisted of mostly Jedi Masters who spent most of their time contemplating the Force.
Becoming a Jedi required a deep commitment and a high level of seriousness. Jedi instruction was very rigid to enforce discipline and reduce transgression. Because of this, any Jedi that was to fail training was often seduced by the dark side of the Force. Being lured by the dark side could cause very serious consequences for those that grew impatient and frustrated as well as those that worked against the dark side.
Jedi are identified early in life and as they are trained and they mature, a Jedi apprentice is put together with a master to continue their training. In accordance with Jedi code, each Jedi Master must not have more than one Padawan, or apprentice, at a time. Towards the end of the Padawan's training, he or she must pass trials before they can ascend to the rank of Knight.
The next rank is the Jedi Master which is reserved only for those who have demonstrated exceptional skill in the Force. From these Jedi Masters, the High Council is chosen and acts as the link between the Jedi and the Republic government.
The Jedi are clothed in simple robes and have special field gear for their missions. The lightsaber is their primary weapon and it can be the most deadly of them all when in the hands of a Jedi Master.
